This blog is for people in the international community in Tokyo who love to do Nordic Walking to stay healthy and fit while making new friends. I will share here the experiences of discovering Tokyo parks and other places suitable for walking.
I arrived in Tokyo in October 2015, this is my 4th expatriation in Japan ( I already spent a total of 10 years between 1990 and 2006). The last time I was living in Tokyo was 10 years ago, so it is kind of starting a completely new journey.
I have been doing Nordic Walking for five years now, the first time was in Brussels in 2009 then continued for three years in the beautiful parks of Moscow.
When I searched for English-speaking groups doing Nordic Walking in Tokyo, I found nothing among the various international communities in the city center. So I decided to build a platform where people could meet and organize walks.
We started by organizing a Nordic Walking initiation event at Yoyogi park in April 2015 with Japanese Certified Nordic Walking instructors Mika-san and Chaki-san from “Tokyo Nordic Walking Club“: (http://tokyonw.blog.fc2.com/)
The idea is to continue to provide at least once a month initiation to Nordic Walking with the instructors at Yoyogi Park combined with long walks allowing us to practice and discover nice parks.
I am hoping you will join and enjoy walking with us.
Cheers
Anne Egros
